When Disaster Strikes, Will You Be Ready?

Bridgewater Community Emergency Response Team

The Bridgewater Community Emergency Response Team (BCERT) is looking for community based volunteers who can serve during local or regional emergencies and/or assist with public health needs during the year. CERT training teaches you to prepare yourself, your neighbors and your community to be ready in the event of an emergency and to act on that training if the need arises. Duties can include:
  • Community Outreach
  • Basic First Aid
  • Temporary Emergency Shelter Support
  • Crowd Control
  • Light Search and Rescue
  • Evacuation
  • Assisting with Flu Clinics or Health Fairs
  • Temporary Emergency Shelter Support

Volunteer residents will be required to attend a series of training classes covering the topics including disaster preparedness, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue and disaster psychology.  Through lecture, discussion and interactive classroom participation, residents will gain the basic skills necessary to help themselves and their family and neighbors during a time of crisis. These classes will take place once a week for a period of approximately 10 weeks. Completion of all classes is required to be certified as a Bridgewater Community Response Team member.

Be a Part of the Team!

No prior experience is needed... just a willingness to make a difference!. For more information please contact BridgewaterCERT@gmail.com and provide your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address. Participants must be residents of Bridgewater, MA and at least 18 years of age. A CORI background check will be conducted by the Town of Bridgewater on all BCERT members prior to participating in any response activities.
